Builder.ai Product Surfaces
Frontend delivery on app-builder product flows inside a fast-moving platform team.

The problem
A no-code app builder asks a non-technical user to make a long sequence of consequential decisions. The frontend had to make each step legible, keep state coherent across sessions, and render a configuration summary that updated as choices changed.
My responsibility
Delivered guided flow screens, configuration summaries and dashboard views, integrating with platform APIs and working inside the client's component conventions.
Surfaces shipped
Builder flows
Guided app-assembly journeys where a user's selections drive generated product configuration.
Dashboard surfaces
Project state, feature selection and progress views across a long multi-session flow.
Architecture
How it was structured, and the reasoning behind each boundary.
- 01
Step orchestration
A declarative step definition drives rendering, validation and back-navigation, so flows can be reordered or branched without rewriting screens.
- 02
Configuration as derived state
The summary panel is a pure projection of the user's selections — one source of truth, no manual synchronisation between views.
- 03
Session persistence
Progress survives reloads and device switches, with explicit save indicators so users trust that their work is kept.
Key challenges
- 01
Explaining consequences to non-experts
Each choice changes price, timeline and capability. Inline explanations and a persistent summary turned an opaque flow into one a user could reason about.
- 02
Integrating into an established codebase
Work had to follow existing patterns and review standards rather than introduce a parallel way of doing things.
Implementation
- 01
Progressive disclosure
Only the decisions relevant to the current branch are shown, keeping each screen short and each next action obvious.
- 02
Validated step boundaries
A step can't be left in an invalid state, and returning to an earlier step revalidates everything downstream of it.
Results
- 01Long guided flows became resumable and comprehensible to non-technical users.
- 02Configuration summaries stayed correct as branches changed, without per-view patching.
- 03Delivered inside the client's existing architecture and review process.
